About R.W. Eaton Associates
My name is Richard Eaton and owner of R.W. Eaton Associates. I was born in Portland and raised in Westbrook, Maine. Graduated from Westbrook High School in 1974 and Graduated from
Maine Maritime Academy in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nautical Science.
I first started surveying in the summer of 1980 with Robert Bradford Associates a Land Surveying, Real Estate and Forestry Company located in Dixfield, Maine. Between 1980 and 1986, when not at sea in the U.S. Merchant Marines, I surveyed large tracks of land in the western mountains of Maine for timber companies. Between 1986 and 1988 I worked for Survey Inc. of Windham, Maine, doing mostly subdivision and site plans in southern Maine. In 1986 I passed my Real Estate Bokers license exam and in 1989 passed my Proffessional Land Surveyors License exam and started R.W. Eaton Associates, a land surveying company in Norway, Maine. In 1995 I moved the company to Westbrook, Maine, and in 1999 moved the company to its present location at 58 Pleasant Street.
From 1998 through 2005 I worked for the U.S. Navy as a Chief Officer on their hydrographic survey ships (USNS Sumner, USNS Bruce C Heezen, and USNS John McDonnall) world wide but mostly in the Persian Gulf and Yellow Sea. I currently hold a U.S. Coast Guard Masters License unlimited tonnage ocean. In 2005, I retired from the Merchant Marine to spend the whole year in the land surveying profession.
I am a member of the Portland Board of Realtors and Maine Society of Land Surveyors and currently the President of the Narragansett Chapter. I hold the surveyors meeting over the garage in our conference room every other month.
I live at 58 Pleasant St, Westbrook with my cats Scotty & Captain Kirk.
